---Map Comments---
taviow, on "The 69 Body Problem"
"My goal for this was to make a fast paced map that has a variety of routes you can take for speedrunning and thus a lot of freedom in how to solve it. Emphasis also placed on making a space that is fun to run around in, plus I wanted to have a movement-based challenge in the map, thus the red key switch corridor was born. I am pretty proud of this one, think I achieved the gameplay I was going for and hopefully it turns out enjoyable to play!"

suzerduzer, on 'Prick City'
"Hastily thrown together, I wanted to mess around with the city textures in the wad resources. It was a nice change of pace compared to how long I usually spend mapping, I think the first fight ended up being pretty fun too."

On 'By Lightning Loved'
"I tried to create a map with a more open layout then what I'm used to making, hopefully allowing for more unique playthroughs / routing opportunity. This map also came together much faster then my other maps I've released as a result of creating the layout / monster placement before doing any sort of detailing, which I typically do as I make my maps. It was a different sort of experience for sure. I also wanted an opportunity to use some of the Stardate 20X7 textures in the resource pack as I've never had the chance to play around with them."

Xenaero, on 'Cube Cut Cutie'
"I set out to go for a short n sweet map, with a few more traditionally structured encounters that limited maneuverable space and put pressure on a player that way. My focus was less on architecture, but more on a smooth flow of combat, and hiding a couple secrets. Being a new mapper, I learned a lot as I went, but I'm happy with the final result!"

Ravendesk, on 'The Pauper'
"just a short relatively chill map where I wanted to mix a city theme with a somewhat unusual non-city texturing, the name is a reference to a Mark Twain novel"

Kinetic, on 'Fraud and Toad'
"Frog and toad aesthetic, more italo-y maybe, altho the conveyor gimmick is a bit frog toad"

On 'Mallard'
I wanted a big monster map that had speedrunning and challenge maxing value, of the old silk of classic hard maps. Somewhere between 35-50 hrs on this i bet.

ako & koko, on 'Satelite Forest'
"a/ originally had this insane vision of climbing around a monochrome satellite structure, ala ryona map01. couldn't think of how to bring it together. hope i can come back to it someday. cut my losses, made a big floaty fucker and called it a day"
"k/ very thoughtlessly put together. really proud of the opening shot of the forest, making that into a full map would be sick if 1) trees didn't take forever to make, and 2) the nodebuilder wasn't already choking to death on 3k lines. the fight is a mix of a couple weird ideas and some brainless decisions, i was experimenting with geometry and threw in a fight to 'complete' the map. there's a secret pacifist route because it's funny"

deat, on 'Malvineous' Revenge'
I don't know what has happened to me.
I'm in a place like none I've seen before.

I remember taking notes at the stone wall.
Then I began to feel dizzy.
I remember sitting down to rest.
After that it's all a blur.

I need to find out where I am and what's happening to me.
Perhaps... I'm having a nightmare.

Has full difficulty settings, co-op and deathmatch implemented. UV was designed around Daerik's skill level, HMP and HNTR provide a more reasonable experience.

Phoenyx, on 'Watching Over'
Might be my favourite epilogue/credits map I've ever made. Ako and Koko's satelite is such as great visual, I had to re-use it here. Thanks to them as well for the mini-satelite for the Satelite Forest section in the gallery. Oneira's MIDI felt appropriate here. Really hope you enjoyed this mapset, Daerik. Also, for a first-timer with doing any kind of graphics for anything, I don't think I did too bad!

On 'Xyloto'
Loosely based on Stardate 20x7 Map 32, mixed with Nirvana's 'Breathless'. I was planning for this map to be a lot longer, perhaps building off of the Issai Perfect inspiration and branching off into other secret maps from WADs you've ran (Sunlust, Anagnorisis etc.). In fact, I was planning a much more intricate map. Initially, I was going to base it off of Nirvana's work and go big, and then I shortened the scope down to basing it off of Sunlust's little hell episode (The Womb - Inverti in Darkness). Unfortunately, November has been such a hectic and brutal month for me that this is all I had time for outside of getting the essentials of the WAD ready. So I hope you enjoy this very blue little slaughtermap from me.

"I looked up to you coming into the game, and the runs you do are my favorite types of runs that people do hands down. your streams are always a must-watch if it's a doom speedrun, Glad I could make something for your birthday, if anyone has deserved a birthday wad it's you." - Kinetic

"Daerik, if it wasn't for you and Bridgeburner raiding me frequently when I had
first started streaming back in 2020, I would have never got back into the Doom
community in the way that I have. I would have almost certainly messed around
with FastDoom, Doom8088 and RealDOOM, but I highly doubt I would have gone back
into mapping or made much of an effort to remain in the community. I'm honestly
not sure how the previous four years would have played out in general, but I
don't regret anything that I've done. Thanks for accepting me, making me one of
your mods and being a good friend.

honk" - deat

"You were amongst the first Doom streamers I ever watched when I joined the community in 2021. I remember being absolutely stunned when you mentioned you had D2Alled Sunlust, it seemed completely unfathomable to me when I was playing God Machine for the first time and taking me five whole hours just to get past that first fight in the second half. I continue to be amazed by your demos and your skill. Even when I feel like I should give up on speedrunning or just any kind of challenge in Doom, your runs are often a source of inspiration, and I thank you for that. I really hope you have a great birthday <3" - Phoenyx
