In the last few days, the entire city in which you live has been exposed to the dangers of a strange and previously unknown yellow corruption that quickly began to spread to cities, caves, mountains, and even human beings. The Corruption began to enter the minds of people, making them aggressive and convincing them of the existence of gods: a goddess of the stars, a god of fire, among others... and also of a god of pain.

The victims of the Yellow Corruption quickly began to mutate, to transform into bloodthirsty creatures with the sole intention of destroying. All this sudden change with no apparent explanation left everyone in fear, locking themselves in their homes in hope that the corruption would not reach them, and getting as much information as possible from media to find an explanation for what was happening.

You are just an average person, father of a child, married, owner of a humble apartment and without much more to ask from life. However, your routine life was abruptly interrupted when corruption began to invade your hometown, leaving you with no choice but to hide in your home with your family and manage resources as best you could... but the hours passed and passed, and food and water were already scarce. Your hopes of getting out of there alive were low, but you heard something interesting on TV that caught your attention, as miraculously the corruption had not yet completely wiped out electricity in town.

"The army is giving food and shelter to the people who were left without home and resources because of the corruption to anyone who comes near their hiding places... "
You listened attentively to every word of what they said on the broadcast, and when it was over, you had already decided what you were going to do: Since going with your family to the army's hideouts would be too dangerous because they could get hurt, you would go alone to ask for food from the army following the instructions given in the broadcast, then you would come back with the food to your family. The trip by car would be quite fast, so it wouldn't be too dangerous, would it?

When you left your home, you discovered an important detail: The Yellow Corruption had completely swallowed your car. You have no choice but to walk to the military hideout to look for food and water, the good side is that the army has been able to create teleports that make the way faster... but you don't have much time to think about your options, because in the distance you already hear the grunts of the people mutated by the corruption, so you quickly get ready to take out your old gun, and fight for the life of your family... and yours.

Doomed Urbex is a community project first started last year by RastaManGames, with the concept of being a wad focused mainly on city maps. However, after RastaManGames left the project which was stressful to lead for him, I decided to take charge, finish what he started, and why not, give the whole project a more cinematic feel, which I'm sure fans of wads like TNT: Evilution will enjoy. So, after several months of development and a delays caused by several factors, (lack of maps, lack of time for me to work more on the project, me trying to polish everything as best as possible) I can finally present a first finished version of the project.

Although, I already consider this a finished version, I would like to continue working a bit in the future on various aspects of the wad, such as the text screens or my own maps, which I think could still be improved, so, I do not rule out an update in the not too distant future. So if any of you have any constructive criticism which you could share, I would appreciate it.

The wad features 23 maps (or 24 if you count the very small last map I made) which are in MBF21, so you should be able to play it with any sourceport that supports that format (Such as Gzdoom, dsda-doom, or Woof.). Also, it isn't really compatible with multiplayer. Maybe it'll be in the future. We'll see...

Map descriptions by its authors (Unless stated otherwise) :

Map01: Artificial Land-Escape, by OceanMadman
Opening map. I used to kinda hate it, but 00_Zombie_00 gave me some nice advice which I listened, and now I kinda love it :)

Map02: Tanning Logtistics, by grotski. Description wasn't provided so I'll give one myself
It's a nice map, with a beach, some sewers, I think, some buildings and not much else. Pretty easy too.

Map03: Hostile Industrial Takeover, by Hebonky
A short break from exploring to do some good ol' fashioned killing, because the inmost dens is a city level.

Map04: One Last job, by Drywtler
You lost your job recently. It's wasn't your fault but nobody stood up with you to prevent it. The workplace is truly hell, and you know who makes it be like that.

Map05: Industry Town, by Uni Musuotankarep
"You take a trip to your father's hometown, and as always, it's
infested with hellspawn with some goodies as well. Make him proud and cheer for you!"

Map06: Weapon Storage, by Serious Vadim. Again, description wasn't provided so I'll give one.
Solid map, set in a storage (:O) without throwing anything too crazy at you. Good-looking visuals too. It features the first arch-vile of the set.

Map07: Lok Kang, by Fai1025
This map is inspired by somewhere in Lukang(鹿港), Taiwan. I don't
even entirly sure it's there cause last time I went there is a decade ago, so
don't expect to find a identical location on Google Map. The map name Lok Kang is
just Taiwanese pronounciation of Lukang btw
as the story, idk, im not good at english never mind writing a story.

Map08: The Tunnels I, by OceanMadman
The first hub map... and the only of them that ONLY has the function of being a transitional map. The other two have monsters and gameplay. I like the quiet atmosphere of this one.

Map09: Personal Hell, by an anonymous.
"This is your personal hell. Can you escape it?"

Map10: Winter Contingency, by EPICALLL. Not description given, but I'll paste here what he said in his release post.
IT IS DONE!
Sorry for the absolute radio silence on the production of my map, frankly, I just didn't make that many efforts to get it done, and this was also only my
second city map, plus my FIRST community project contribution. So, it might be a bit rough around the edges.
(I'm pretty sure) the map is already bound to the MAP18 slot, were it to end up there, I know they will be sorted (roughly) by difficulty, but having it
in map18 might make organization a bit clearer.
It's compatible with four players, too.
Albeit, Deathmatch wasn't really considered... As the map doesn't make for too good of a deathmatch arena due to all of the more vertical stuff being inside
the four buildings.
I forgot to give the map a name, but I think "Winter Contingency" would be a good, fitting name.
The total runtime is around about five minutes, give or take.
And difficulty-wise, it's just about on par with mount pain, it even has the same-ish survival elements as mount pain.
(I.E. You lose health, you're only getting a fraction of it back) So don't get hit!
Overall, I'm generally pleased with the final result.
While it certainly isn't my best work, it's far from my worst.
Maybe this will be played by some doomtuber. That would be interesting.
Anyways, enough rambling... Here's the map.
Also, in the room with the stairs and the barons, those barons used to be a cyberdemon, which was about as confusing of a fight as american politics.
So you can thank me for not giving the player a heart attack. XD

Map11: Suburban nightmare, by Silhouette 03
An abandoned city or suburb overrun by demons.

Map12: Pinkies ate my neighbors, by digithead100
Its a little gated community with around 3 houses. Lots of Doom
cute although its debatable if any of it actually looks good. Apart from the
title, there's no other reference to Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I've never even
 played that game :)

Map13: Ciudad de la Furia, by RED 77
"Last night at home. Next stop: HELL"

Map14: This night I'm feeling lucky, by Dashlet
You're feeling lucky tonight! You know a casino its somewhere
around here, you wander what those pesky demons may had done with it... but first
we need to get out of this alleyway.

Map15: Stealing the Daemtles boat, by Ar_e_en
The Daemtles are coming to town on their speed-boat, and you hate their music!
So you plan on stealing their speed-boat by swiping the key from their manager who
is currently in the underground parking lot, and you also plan on stealing a concert
ticket from your boss at the water treatment plant, because he's a dick and fuck him...
Which doesn't make much sense since the concert is clearly an open air concert
in a public space... Look, I didn't really give much thought to the context of
this map, just shoot the demons, enjoy the Doom-cute, and look for the secret
BFG in the water treatment plant, okay?

Map16: The Tunnels II, by Oceanmadman
My favorite from the "The Tunnels" trilogy. The gameplay is nice I think, and it shares a very quiet atmosphere like The Tunnels I, but this one actually has monsters and more things to do.

Map17: Consumed Settlement, by Shawn
You wake up in an old cemetery. Why were you six feet under ?
You will have to search the village to find answers.

Map18: The Flooding, by sincity2100. Again, not description given, so I'll make one.
A map with a lot of water. I really like the visuals, and it plays well too. Good map.

Map19: I wish you have a mug of mud, by russin
give the demons a few mugs and they can flood half the city with... mud?
Most inspired by projects like PRCP and Good Morning Phobos, of course I tried to make this level easy.
So you won't believe it, but there are no archviles, so you can basically enjoy the gameplay (probably).
Before that, the map should have looked like something from a factory, but the idea immediately sunk into oblivion,
so I stopped over the city completely flooded with mud. Get ready to see many brown shades. But anyway, enjoy

//A map inspired by Good Morning Phobos after the map by the author of Good Morning Phobos... too many coincidences.

Map20: The Tunnels III, by OceanMadman.
A pretty long map. I like some of the things I made here, like the different dimensions idea (even if it's been done a thousand times) and the room with the stars textures. Not a bad map, I think.

Map21: Cyber-Junction, by EPICALLL
Locked out again? Come on, you just got here. Explore a little, I'm sure nothing too bad will happen to you, right?

Map22: The Hall of the lost maps, by OceanMadman, Rykz, cursedjade999, akolai and EPICALLL. (Description by OceanMadman/me)
A collection of unfinished or rejected maps by various authors which I decorated more, tried to balance better and gave a more surreal atmosphere.

Map23: Parvaterra, by OceanMadman
In my opinion, the best map I've ever made. It's surreal, weird, random, and I love it.

Map24: The end, by OceanMadman.
indeed, the end to the story... or something like that. It's quite open to interpretation, but you probably will get what happened in the last few maps anyway.
