Filename : zeromidi.wad
Release date : 09-30-2024
Author : Demonic Meatball
Email Address : [redacted]

Description : This is a pack of 35 new MIDIs to accompany the PWAD
Doom Zero, which relased 09-30-2019 with a soundtrack
entirely composed of midis from Doom 1 and 2, bar for
2 tracks, which were remixes of OG Doom midis.
Soundtrack contains a few Leitmotivs, and some midis
have a certain rythmic complexity that reflects Doom
                          Zero's puzzly nature.

Composer's notes
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_RUNNIN : Zeroing In
Since MAP01 had a remix in the original, I kept this one pretty close to
the original midi. Includes the main theme.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_STALKS : Lions, Satyrs and Tongue Stickers
Highly energetic, it had to replace At Doom's Gate after all. All similarity
with a Nirvana song about a student unable to smell would be entirely
          coincidental.

          (I'm serious, that wasn't intended)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_COUNTD : Asthmatic Meatballs
Sorry DASI-I, that's just what the sound replacement reminds me of. Not much
to say, except I like the bass solo I put in.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_BETWEE : Deceitful
Little waltz, with interesting harmonies. Yeah I got nothin' here.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_DOOM : Pitiful Vile
Could work really well with a 8-string guitar. Also I found out it's possible
to change drum types mid-song in Sekaiju. The more you know.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_THE_DA : Sneaking
Largely took inspiration from "God's Expression" by Skronkidonk, and a little
bit of the song is basically ripped from Ennio Morricone's theme for "The Night
Caller (1975)". Also it's in 5/4 because Mission Impossible.
          Foreshadows a little something.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_SHAWN : Double-Barelled Death Ballet
Syncs with shooting the SSG. Neat eh ?
Since it is an energetic track in drop B, it ended up being a bit more
Slipknot-influenced than I anticipated. Drumming is nowhere near as
          complex though.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_DDTBLU : Familiar Nuisances
Doomkid's "Nuisances Unknown", but with triplets. Also sas a snippet from
.mid the way Id did, a snippet from the Ultimate Midi Pack, and a section
inspired by yet another snippet from the Ultimate Midi Pack.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_IN_CIT : Bookworm
Atmospheric little bass-driven track, kind of like map 3's. Loops pretty
          seemlessly imho.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_DEAD : Back to Hell they go
Another pretty seemless loop. This one didn't sart off too great, but I
          ended up really liking it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_STLKS2 : Can't have shit in DOOMtroit
"You know what would be really funny ? If the city map with a gang war in
it had a rap beat that sampled Downtown's midi as BGM" - me at some point

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_THEDA2 : Inner Mantle
Wrote the first melody before my exams, then during my exams I completely
forgot I had written anything for MAP12, so after my exams I thought of a
new melody, then I went to write it in Sekaiju and realised I had already
written something, so I put it after the second melody and finished the
          track from there. Silly me.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_DOOM2 : Losing your Marbles
Start shooting the chaingun as the string of snares start. With some luck
the arachno will die at the beat drop. Love doing that kind of stuff.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_DDTBL2 : Tectonic
Shout out to midis that start ominous and then go really heavy. Gotta be
          one of my favorite genders.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_RUNNI2 : In parts
Channaled my inner Stuart Rynn here. Unrelated, but I took the ostinato
from one of my favorite anime tracks, heavily modified it and put it in.
You'll never guess which track it was MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_DEAD2 : Mucus-Lookin'
One of the puzzliest maps of the wad, so have some 11/4.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_STLKS3 : 1548 Ticks
That's how much time it takes to shotgun down those 6 arachnotrons at the
          start. So yeah.
          F U N.
Synchs with shooting the sg btw.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_ROMERO : Among the STARs
High energy rock track because it replaces Kitchen Ace, with a 7/8 polyrythm
because why not. Yeah, got absolutely nothing to say for this one tbh.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_SHAWN2 : Foreshadowing
More puzzles, so 13/8. Foreshadows the same thing as MAP06.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_MESSAG : Witch
The theme of our antagonist. If you think that's dramatic, wait 'till MAP29.
Also, the drums can be pitch-bent. Didn't know that before.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_COUNT2 : White Skulls
I did not expect the start to sound this much like Shawn's got the Shotgun.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_DDTBL3 : Marsh Face
Remix of "Swamp Ass" from the Ultimate Midi Pack. Rocks a bit harder.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_AMPIE : At Most 3
Rockin' in 9/8. Solo kinda sounds like Nothing else Matters at the start.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_THEDA3 : Light Trails
Last midi I did for the pack, a 7/4 diabolical march almost entirely based
          on diminished chords.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_ADRIAN : Quadratic
Did a bit of an experiment here. I bet this midi will be pretty divisive.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_MESSG2 : Rock Overdose
Some AC/DC sounding stuff. Yes, I did it like that just for the pun.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_ROMER2 : Curtain Call of Tricks (May Include Traps)
          How'bout a polyrhythm within another polyrhythm ?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_TENSE : Doom Zero
Remix of the opener's midi, 'cuz in the original ost this map uses Suspense
and the opener uses a Suspence remix, so I did the old switcharoo. If you
think that's dramatic, wait 'till MAP29.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_SHAWN3 : Violent Heart Surgery
Remix of map 20's midi, just lke i was in the Doom Zero's original OST.
I'm really proud of this one, especially the drop. If you think that's
          dramatic, you are absolutely correct.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_OPENIN : Twisted Caves
Foreshadows the twist with a nod to a certain ost.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_EVIL : Classic Skin
I bet you know which tracks I remixed here if you played the map or read this
entire text file, but the question is, could you have recognised them without
          context ?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_ULTIMA : Back to Square Zero
Some strait-up Aubrey Hodges-sounding midi. If you want your mind blown, play
Zeroing In, then play this at 64x the speed (with pitch modification).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_DM2TTL : Minus One
Short, effective, and has the main theme in it. What else could you ask for ?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_DM2INT : Piling up Skulls
Inspired by continuum.mid's Intermission music for THEME-GAWAD, "The Journey
          Continues".

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

     - D_READ_M : Read with Piotr Micheal's Voice
Seriously, you should read those text screens with his voice. Works strangely
          well. I wonder how that's possible…
And yes, this is literally TNT's intermission theme.
